A group of Chicago's black media owners negotiate new ad deal with Mariano's

Following a recent successful effort to secure a more equitable share of local advertising, a group of six Chicago media owners are now deciding where to turn their attention next. The group led by Carl West of TBT News includes The Chicago Defender, The Chicago Crusader, N'Digo, The Chicago Citizen and WVON. Procter & Gamble's ad 'The Talk' stirs social conversation about the perils of racism

Procter & Gamble kicked off the 10th anniversary celebration of the "My Black is Beautiful" campaign by releasing a commercial titled "The Talk," featuring African-American women discussing the realities of being Black in America and warning their children about the perils of racism. "The Talk" sparked fierce reaction across the nation; ironically, conservative media outlets attacked the campaign, calling it divisive and racist.

The life and music of Morris "Butch" Stewart to be celebrated in weekend memorial

The life and music of Morris "Butch" Stewart will be celebrated by family, friends and the industry during a three-day open house memorial this weekend. Stewart died on May 19 at Evanston Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was 64.
